The “CG” prototype # 1

May 5, 2010

This is Prototype # 1.  My new signature model surfboard.

I will be testing this design out first, to see how she goes.

Together with Roberts Surfboards, we are designing the perfect surfboard.  I’ve been riding mainly two boards for the past year that I really like. So I’ve asked Robert to shape something in-between the two, so I could have the qualities of both. Since I really like the Diamond tail, and have everlasting love for a squash tail… this is what came out. Robert calls this the Screwdriver tail.  Here’s to a little more R & D…

….So, now,  after a few months of testing this board, I have given it the CG seal of approval!  Two thumbs WAY up!

The board has tons of drive and has a very tight arc, and is perfect for the tight pocket turns that I was looking for. It paddles much faster than my standard shortboard, and planes much faster through flat spots.  The unique tail has the looseness of the diamond tail with the drive & control of the squash.  The tail design was an interesting concept when we came up with it.. I wasn’t sure how well it would work.. But, after riding it it has passed the test and proven my skepticism wrong. I have ridden this board from 1 foot waves to double overhead and it holds great in the bigger surf. Order the “CG” 4 to 5 inches shorter than your standard shortboard.   Enjoy!!

If it doesn’t have this logo… It’s not a CG!
